Pethapur youth dies during treatment after brutal attack; FIR omits key details, police under scrutiny

GANDHINAGAR: A 25-year-old youth, Yuvrajsinh Karansinh Solanki, from Pethapur village in Gandhinagar district, who was seriously injured after being brutally attacked with sharp weapons in the early hours of October 3, died during treatment at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital after being shifted from Gandhinagar Civil Hospital.

According to local sources, a day before the attack, the victim had reportedly gone to Pethapur Police Station late at night to submit a preventive written complaint against individuals who had been threatening him. However, one of the police personnel on duty allegedly took the application but refused to register it, warning the youth to leave the station.

The following morning, assailants allegedly entered the youth’s residence and attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him critically wounded. Despite medical treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.

What has raised serious concern is that the name of the person against whom the preventive application was intended is missing from the FIR, which was later registered at Pethapur Police Station under minor BNS sections. Locals allege that had the police acted promptly on the earlier complaint, the incident could have been prevented.
